TMI warning - Blood in urine?

Photo of urine on pad - sorry TMI

For the last few months I’ve had recurring UTIs. Most gone without treatment but on one occasion I ended up in a&e in absolute agony. They tested my urine and said it showed signs of containing blood. They said could be infection or normal menstrual blood. (I don’t have periods, I have the coil). I was given anti-b’s.

Anyway, since then on and off had symptoms, urgency and pain. I do suffer some incontinence as well which is worse at the this time. I know I’ve leaked quite a bit today onto this pad. This is the colour of it, would you say this indicated blood or just dark urine?

If you were given nitrofurantion AB it will darken your urine….mine goes a browny/tawny colour with these

This was 6-8 weeks ago, it’s like the infections gone and come back.

Are you sure that's not just dark urine staining?
Nitrofurantoin is a really good antibiotic.
Have you still got UTI symptoms?

Oneearringlost · 26/06/2024 11:35

To be honest, I wouldn't worry too much, if you haven't got UTI symptoms. Xx

UTITMI · 26/06/2024 16:57

I have got new symptoms. It feels like the UTI is back.

Take a sample to gp in morning for testing…..did they send a sample for culture testing? Was it ecoli?

I can't see any hint at all of blood (no red/pink/brown).

I don’t know, it was done at a&e so I doubt it.

So feed up of it coming and going.

I have blood in my urine frequently and it is bright red and very noticeable, later on in the day it may turn a funny shade of green. I am waiting for treatment for kidney stones

They suspected kidney stones when I was in a&e. The blood wasn’t visible when I went to a&e but detected in the urine sample.

I get flank pain when I drink too much in a short period of time. A scan discovered kidney stones.
Hope you get to the bottom of the problem
