with the GP at the Doctors surgery.
She did all the checks and said he is perfectly fine and healthy... all good

BUT then this afternoon the HV came out to do my 6 week check and looked through DS2's red book to see how he got on with his while she was here.

She noticed that the head circumference had jumped up off the graph from the 50th centile at birth and so measured it again. The GP had measured it completely wrong . When the GP did it she even said to me 'oh he has a nice big growth of his head size' when actually it would have been quite worrying for it to have grown that much!!

Also the GP noted that DS2 wasnt focussing on her or following objects with his eyes. She said to me its nothing to worry about as its still early for him to be doing this and his sight is fine.
But HV says its actually late for him to be doing it and now I've got to go back for more checks in 2 weeks time to make sure he is doing it by then. She seemed quite concerned... (he is 7 weeks old tomorrow)

Not sure what to think now or who is right!

sounds like the pair of em need their heads knocking together. you gp clearly wasn't paying appropriate attention to have missed the mistake in measuring your ds's head!

having said that gp is right, babies do develop at different rates, especially in the early days, but HV is right to arrange a follow-up appointment (gp should have done it imo)

how exactly did your gp decide your ds's sight was fine if he wasn't focussing or following anything?

i might be tempted to write a letter about the gp to the practice manager, but then i'm a stroppy one at times and can sometimes cause more trouble than i intended/its worth...
