Antibiotics and anxiety

I am on Phenoxymethylpenicillin and have been taking it since Saturday. I've had a sore throat and swollen gland for over a week and after seeing a GP they prescribed me this. Their diagnosis was it probably is viral and if I wanted to I could take antibiotics just incase.
My throat already feels much better I've just a little soreness where my gland feels tender still.

However today about an hour after taking my dose of it I began to feel like I would have a panic attack when driving home. My chest felt tight, I felt hot and had an awful feeling of anxiety. I still don't feel 100% now. I suffer with anxiety a lot and I'm now not sure if it's the antibiotics aggravating my anxiety, if I'm reacting to the medication or something else.
The rational part of me is thinking it's just anxiety and I need to calm down because now my head is going into overdrive telling me it's an allergic reaction. I can't quite shake the feeling and off.

Do antibiotics exacerbate anxiety? I've never noticed anything like this in the past when I've been on antibiotics.

They kill off the good bacteria in your gut, which can have an impact on mood. Try not to worry - top up on probiotics (supplements and or yoghurt and other fermented food) and look after yourself .

I've been drinking kefir since I started on them to help with the good bacteria.

Good but it won't be instant - antibiotics are quite harsh
