Does anyone else get “phantom” smells?

I’ve been experiencing phantom smells for about 4 months and can’t pinpoint why I get them… they’re not usually strong but I’m convinced I can smell something that is actually there…

I ask DH if he can smell what I’m smelling but he can’t. I can usually smell smoke, petrol or sometimes poo. It has woken me up before.

I had an MRI scan about a month ago of my head (including brain) and it didn’t reveal anything so it’s unlikely linked to that. Any suggestions?

I had a particularly bad case of phantom smells after mold exposure years ago. Once that was sorted I didn't have much issue with them for years until I started getting migraines. Now strong smells can either trigger a migraine or when I have a migraine some smells are so strong they are intolerable. I also find certain smells 'stick' in my nose for days. No idea why.

I've had Covid, long covid and Covid again but this was after I started smelling things that aren't there. Smoke and gas mainly.

I can quite often smell cigarette smoke but I have a plethora of allergies so it's something that's pretty common in my circumstances.
