I watched one as a student. It's usually done as a day case (ie: in and out on the same day) under general anaesthetic. From what I remember, it can be quite painful afterwards funnily enough but settles quite quickly.

thanks fleximum...he's such a big baby - he's terrified of the dentist and only went to docs yesterday cos i made the appointment - it's been a problem for about 3 years now

DH was done at 18 and had terrible problems with it healing - he still hates talking about it now and had to have counselling!

Mind you one of my friend's husbands had it done a couple of years ago and other that the normal male over the topness about how their pain is obviously greater than yours was fine!

I have just had n episiotomy repair and was saying just how bloody painful and uncomfortable it was to DH in bed lat night - and can you believe it he said I know!

Er no chummy you don't, you had a bit of flappy gross skin at the end of your todger cut off - I have ad layers of muscle slit open and sewn back up and it is much more bloody painful I can assure you!

blushingm · 08/04/2008 10:13

te he twinkie.....2 c sections and 3 teeth out and he's worying about a bit of loose skin!!! Thankfully can only imagine an epesiotomy......makes me shiver

do you mind me asking why your dh had to be done? and your friends hubby if you know....dh won't soeak to anyone......he's

DHs split during sex, first time too, - that is why the counselling obviously lots of blood and pain and thinking sex meant huge amounts of pain and as they were quite a, lets say, victorian family when it came to talking aout sex it was hugely embarrasing for him to have to tell his parents and get then to take him to the hospital and sign off all the Bupa forms!

I know 2 other men who have had it done and they had it done because it became too tight and they kept getting infections!

blushingm · 08/04/2008 15:16

dh's i very tight - it split about 9 years ago. your dh little fella is ok now though isn't it? How long would you say it was until he was fully functional again?

blushingm - has he seen the consultant yet? My DH has quite a tight foreskin & tore his frenulum a couple of years ago during sex & we were worried he would need circ'ing...but when he saw the consultant he only needed it repairing. They were talking about a general at first but we asked about having it done under a local & he was fine with that. Basically they cut the frenulum through re-sewed it. The op took about 10 mins under a local.

ash6605 · 08/04/2008 15:26

Dh had it done 4 years ago, aged 24,as with Twinkie he had terrile problems healing and the scar tissue kept getting infected.we had to refrain from sex for about 3 months and when we did eventually get down to it,plenty of lube and a condom were required. On the plus side though the op was a doddle,in and out same day(well,my dh was kept in for two days as he kept fitting after the general but thats just him!)and the benefits far outweigh the problems he had in those first few months.

blushingm · 08/04/2008 16:36

mmmmm dh torn his frenulum too.

He hasn't seen the conultant yet, only the gp yesterday who said he'd refer him. How long does it take for the referral?

I'm worrying now about the pist op bit - he had stitches in his leg and i fainted when i was cleaning around them

Ouch for your DH. I remember DH tearing his v clearly - soooo much blood

It took a while for the referral I seem to remember.....

Post op wasn't too bad - he was sore for a bit until the stiches had dissolved & peeing & morning 'wood' was rather at first...but nothing too gruesome. TBH he is better cleaning it himself - last thing he needs is someone pulling about on his foreskin - far too easy to pull it a few mm too far & then you are back to square one!

I'll ask DH tonight for anything I've forgotten

blushingm · 09/04/2008 09:51

oh thanks - i'm clueless when it comes to mens stuff and he's quite shy
