eczema under eyes - steroid cream

Hi. I have been prescribed steroid cream for undereye eczema which has taken down the inflammation and majority of the redness. My skin is now incredibly wrinkly (plus a few tiny spots) and a bit dry in that area and I wondered whether this was still eczema or a side effect of steroid? I am trying to keep it moisturised but just wondering i should be applying an even thinner layer if it causes the extreme wrinkling. I have only been using a couple of days and it is betnovate. Thank you.

Betnovate is quite strong and shouldn’t be used long term, as it really does thin the skin, it should only be used very sparingly when the eczema is very acute, especially on your face.

I used to use 2.5% steroid cream on an ongoing basis, which kept it under control and moisturised, without the side effects (also in my eye area)

Thank you, I may need to ask for something not so strong. Would you say betnovate is possibly causing the dry wrinkling or is this a common thing when eczema is healing?

I use Protopic instead of a steroid as they thin the skin so much.

Worth asking about.

And the only moisturiser that doesn't irritate the skin around my eyes is that Paw Paw stuff, just the plain one in the red tube.
