Having Mirena Coil removed soon - anything I should know?

Hi there. I'm sure this has come up before but I am having my mirena coil removed soon. I have had it for a year and it just doesn't suit me at all (lots and lots and lots of side effects). Anyway, sounds daft but I will ok to drive home afterwards?! Is there anything I should know before I go? One of my friends was bed ridden with pain for the rest of the day after she had hers out but I understand this is very unusual.

I am on my third Mirena coil. It is far less painful having it removed than put in. I get on with it very, very well and I will be having a fourth one if my GP says it is still okay for me to have it in a few years time.

You should be fine to drive afterwards.

Its usually dead easy and quick to remove a coil.

Take some ibuprofen or paracetamol 30 minutes beforehand if you're worried about it hurting a bit.

I had it out - it was a walk in the park as you lot said it would be. Thank you. Now I need to decide what to do about contraception ...!
