Plantar fasciitis - steroid injection

Hello lovely people,

I'm due to have the steroid injection in my heel to hopefully ease the pain of my Plantar Fasciitis. I'm in agony with it at the moment.

Have you had this steroid treatment in the heel before? If so, what should I expect pain/recovery wise? I'm not sure what to expect but Dr Google has made me worry about the initial days after.

My GP has just said that I should 'rest' after but I have a very active 3YO. DM should be able to help me on the day of the injection and DH will be around in evenings. I would be due drive 15mins each way to collect DC from preschool an hour after the injection and the next afternoon would need to drive her to/from a dance class (although I'm not sure how likely I will be able to do either).

Thanks Smile

Having the injection was one of the most painful experiences in my life.

the advice is more not to walk on it much at all. I suppose driving would be ok- unless you’re a heavy footed driver.

unfortunately it only only worked for me for a couple of months then come back. In time it healed on it’s own.

I've had two of these - definitely one of the most painful experiences of my life too, but the serious pain is fleeting!

I don't recall being in any worse pain afterwards with it than I was with the condition itself?

I had it a couple of years ago.

It was unpleasant and uncomfortable but I I’ve suffered far worse pain than that. Mine was combined with a local anaesthetic and I was able to walk without pain almost immediately. It was painful that evening but the following morning I was able to walk normally for the first time for months.

I’d not think twice about having it done again but it’s not been necessary. I still do the stretches and wear insoles as I do not want it to come back
