Baby has one eyelid that hangs lower than the other - is this normal?

or shall I ask them to look at it at his 6 week check tomorrow?
Its his left eyelid and it makes his left eye look smaller than his right eye. It does vary a bit and seems to droop more at night when he is sleepy....

Yes I would ask at his 6 week check

It might be a symptom of something more

Good luck!

It was for my ds - the health visitor kept an eye on it just in case, but you can't really notice it any more unless he's very tired (he is 14months now).

It is a condition called ptosis (silent 'p'). Basically the eyelid muscle didn't develop properly in utero. Relatively common and not usually associated with anything else, though if your GP refers you the hospital will usually check for any other condition just in case. If it's minor then nothing will need to be done, but if it's quite severe, i.e. all or some of the pupil is obscurred they will operate to raise the eyelid, probably sooner rather than later as eyesight development can be effected. My ds has/had this (has had corrective surgery) in both eyes so feel free to fire questions! But do get a referral from your GP.
