help! Any tips on how to get rid of scabies once and for all. This will be the 5th time I have had to treat. I have the 5% permethrin cream to put on our household of myself and 3 & 5 year old.
I wash the sheets towels pjs soft toys clothes for the next day at 60 degrees on the night of applying the cream. I have been putting bedding away and using spare bedding to hop into once we have cream on.
shoes and jackets I have been tumble drying for 30min…
I applied the cream a week apart as per instructions.
also the morning after the cream I have washed sheets and pjs ….

any help or ideas please from an jtchy mum who is over it

We only ever had it once but DM (on advice of the DR) hot washed bedding & pj’s daily and also wiped down bed frames, skirting boards, hoovered top to bottom daily too and clothes worn were washed after one wear, so school jumpers etc weren’t worn more than once.
Have you spoken to school/nursery? Maybe someone’s DC attending has it but isn’t being treated?

How about shoes? Do you think likes of running shoes an hour in the dryer on hot would work? Thanks

Did you manage to get rid of this?

I know this is an old thread but I am also wondering how to beat scabies. My son had itchy skin dr diagnosed eczema / stress as he had exams / new grad job but one month later he was still itching. Creams not helping DS himself suggested scabies himself to dr who prescribed the permethrin cream but he has applied it about 5 times now and still itching. Now I have caught it ( not surprising as he had it undiagnosed. How hard is it to diagnose scabies?! Two weeks now and 3 applications and we are both still itchy . I am feeling a bit panicky that they are not going to go. Have they become resistant or are we missing little areas with the cream. Please help !
