Does this sound like hay fever?

I've had a sore throat since Saturday. But felt ok otherwise. Since yesterday I've had body aches and feel like I should be full of cold but I'm not. My nose is stuffy but dry inside. I'm not snotty. But more than anything I ache and just feel a little tired.

I felt shocking when I got home yesterday from work but then later in the evening I was fine. Same this morning felt fine on waking up but now I've got to work I feel achy and tired.

No, doesn't sound like hay fever to me.

Hay fever causes sneezing and stuffiness, but you typically don't feel unwell otherwise unless you've been stuffed up for so long that you've developed a sinus infection, which is possible. That would make you feel unwell in addition to the sneezing and stuffiness but it's no longer just hay fever.

Weirdly I felt rough first thing and I feel ok now. Whatever it is seems to come and go.

Hay fever does make me feel tired and drained, as well as scratchy eyes and throat. I always forget I have it until I start thinking I am coming down with something and then realise it's the same time every year.
Touch wood though I didn't seem to get it this year, it is usually April for me.

Try and antihistamine and see if it helps?

My hayfever comes with a sore throat and itchy ears (they're the worst - symptoms are varied

I had covid last week and it started with a scratchy throat and tiredness. Fortunately didn't get much worse.

Long term hayfever sufferer here and whilst it does leave me feeling drained, I’ve never had body aches. That sounds more viral.

Hay fever isn't a fever. It is an allergic reaction, and typical symptoms would be bouts of uncontrollable sneezing, a runny nose, blocked sinuses, sore itchy eyes, tickly throat and roof of the mouth. You can feel really tired, but that is usually because you can't sleep due to all of the above.

I thought I had hayfever with the scratchy throat and itchy nose. Last night progressed to more cold like and achy. Tested positive for Covid this morning and feel like I've been hit by a bus

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/06/2024 15:47

Sounds more like Covid.

Frlrlrubert · 06/06/2024 15:49

I've also got covid right now that started like this.

makaton · 06/06/2024 20:00

I feel ok now. Sat-Tues I felt rough. Sore throat, dry congested nose, aching all over and tired. God knows what it was, I was wondering if it could be covid but whatever it was seems to have gone!

I've got the same symptoms again as I had last week. Woke up yesterday with a really sore throat down one side, achy, head is stuffy. Pollen levels have been high here since yesterday.!
