Rash and pains in all my joints

I know your not doctors but it’s Sunday so I’m a bit stuck and it’s not urgent enough for 111, I was just wondering if anyone has any idea?

I woke up yesterday covered in this rash which I think was caused by my medication which I’ve been taking for years, I’ve taken antihistamine and it went temporarily but then came back.
I woke up this morning and I’m in pain with all of my joints and I can’t work out why.. My wrists and my knees are the worst and I’ve had no injury.

any ideas? I can barely put any weight on my knees and I’m a bit worried about the flights of stairs in work tomorrow. I’ve taken ibuprofen and my cocodamol now which I think is what caused the rash but I was in too much pain.

sorry for the foot picture 😂

You need to stop taking what you think is causing the allergy, and take more antihistamines.

Unfortunately, it’s not that simple as I suffer with chronic back pain and rely on cocodamol for pain relief. I’ve taken it for years and never had an issue and then all of the sudden this :(

I don’t think I can take any more antihistamines today as it’s one a day. I’ll try to not take the pain killers today and to get a gp appointment in the morning if possible. It’s so bizarre to just come out of the blue

I’ve had this before many years ago. Numerous blood tests drew a blank and after a while it just eased off and then went away. I was under a huge amount of stress at the time so often wonder if that was the cause?

My dd has slapped cheek syndrome and apparently it’s rife at the moment. Any chance of that? I read another MN thread about it (from years back) where a poster had been hospitalised with arthritis-type symptoms from it.

Hello OP
Mostly likely nothing but take advice from 111 for reassurance and possibly other good directions/etc

Are you sure it's not a virus making everything ache and giving you the rash. Any fever or headache?

8misskitty8 · 02/06/2024 15:10

I had exactly this over the new year.
Rash was all over my legs then my arms and chest. Joints all sore especially my wrists/hands. I had to go to bed with hot water bottles over both hands as I was in so much pain. It lasted over a week.

I never found out what it was.

I’ve spoke to a gp who just advised to take ibuprofen which is what I’ve been doing but it hasn’t got any better 😞

Op - I am exactly the same! I have this rash all over my upper body, awful pains in joints mainly wrists, thumbs, slows and ankles. I also have flu symptoms.

Hi, hope you're feeling better now? How long did the aching wrists last for? I'm suffering similar symptoms. 😑

Hi, sorry I’m only now seeing this and some of the replies. From what I recall it lasted about two weeks. It was really odd and I still don’t know what caused it! I hope you feel better soon xxx

Thank you for your reply. My achy joints have now stopped after about day 5. It was very debilitating 😑 In my case I think a previous poster could be right about slapped cheek syndrome as there's a lot of it at my dc's nursery at the mo.
