falling down stairs - hoping for some reassurance

my 19 mo dd has just fallen down some stairs, 5 at the most. she sort of rolled and got stuck by the stairgate that she'd closed behind her. she cried straight away and seemed more concerned by the fact she'd dropped her toy. she stopped crying after about a minute and is now watching peppa pig. do i need to have her checked out or just keep an eye on her?

Just keep an eye on her - babies bounce. They don't expect it to hurt so don't tense.

My DS fell down a full steep flight when he was just under 12 months - not a mark on him Doctor said it happens a lot and they are 99% of the time fine.

I think she'll be ok - I think most kids fall down the stairs at some stage. As long as she can use all her limbs and doesn't have a head injury (concussion, vomiting) she'll be ok. But if she does become unwell get her checked out if you're concerned.

that's what i was hoping you would say! i felt sick when i saw her roll but she seems fine right now. will watch her carefully as yuo say. i think the bad mummy guilt is the worst thing!
