(And I'm definitely NOT pregnant ). Interested to hear broadly when I should be expecting these to return. Had baby by c-section 15 weeks ago, stopped BF after 8 weeks (and never managed to be exclusive), I'm in my mid-30s. Obviously not missing them one shred, but feels like a bit of a lottery. What are other's experiences, (especially if you share any of my traits)?

I exclusively fed DS, DD1 and DD2 and AF came back when all of them were 7 months. Sorry, can't shed any light on the subject.

Well... I had DTs 12 weeks ago, and AF came back at 10 weeks. I did not bf at all apart from some failed attempts for the first 3 days.

Last time I bf exclusively for 3 months, and mixed fed for the next month. AF came back a month or so after my final feed.

bump; any post-section mums out there?

I had my LMP on 15th Dec 2006, still haven't got it back. DS was born in Sept by section but I am still bfing, down to just four feeds a day now though, I expected it to return once DS wasn't feeding every three hours. Sorry I can't help, I'm a bit nonplussed about the absence of my af too.

Hmmm, let me remember....had ds by section in May 04 and bf him for 10.5 months. Went back on mini pill when ds was 21 days old - this used to stop my periods before I got pg with ds anyway. Eventually had af about 15 months after ds was born - nice break!!
Are you taking oral contraceptives?

HeadFairy · 04/04/2008 21:26

No oral contraceptives for me. I'm not missing it, but we'd like to try for dc number 2 soon, not sure how on earth we know when to try.

KMUN · 04/04/2008 21:32

no pill either; and yes, like headfairy, bit nonplussed about fertile times (to avoid at the mo)

kmun, knowing my luck I'll miss my fertile time totally and you'll end up pg

I really don't understand the whole thing about still ov'ing but having no period. Surely you still need to shed a uterine lining if you're ov'ing. I should have listened in human biology

Took me until 10 months old after c-section. Still bf though - although down to one/two a day cos of work now.

MrsMattie · 04/04/2008 21:45

I had DS by c-section, BF'd for 6 weeks, AF came back at 10 weeks. But I think it's fairly normal for it not to return for a good few months, even if not BF-ing. Hormones take a while to settle down. Just be very careful with contraception if you don't want to be doing it all again in 9 months time
