Healthy Habit Non-negociables

Hi everyone,
I'm posting here as it covers lots of areas.
I was inspired this morning by a chat with some friends who get up and exercise at 5am every morning seemingly without fail. I never knew they did this!
I slept very badly as I'd had 4 drinks last night and thought to myself that perhaps as I approach 40 I should have a blanket ban on drinking, or no more than 2 etc.
It got me thinking, have you got any rules or habits that you do without fail? Could I learn from you?
Do you have any non-negociables that work for you?
Inspire me!

I run at least 3 mornings a week, never drink sugary drinks, and eat at least 5 fruit and veg per day (usually more like 10). Is that the kind of thing you mean?

mitogoshi · 18/05/2024 14:45

No drinking at home during the working week, no desserts at home unless entertaining, walk to shops. Not exactly earth shattering are they but every little helps

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 18/05/2024 14:50

Daily multivit
2 liters of water

EveryOtherNameTaken · 18/05/2024 15:14

Drink lots of water through the day
walk at least an hour a day.
Always have a healthy lunch during the week
Don't eat breakfast just because I'm not hungry in the morning so first meal is lunch.

I also get up at 6 and exercise before 8am every day, whether that’s a run or a workout. I just wouldn’t fit it in anywhere else. I’ve done it so long now that I just do it without questioning.

I always drink a pint of water first thing

Candleabra · 18/05/2024 17:17

Drink water. Eat fruit and veg every day. At least 20 min walk every day. Most days I’m much healthier / more active but that is my bare minimum.

Compash · 18/05/2024 17:21

Not a meal without veg, not a day without exercise, plenty of water and never let insomnia or constipation get out of hand! 😄

swedex · 18/05/2024 17:21

10k steps everyday
Water bottle drunk twice every day so about 2 litres
Exercise 5 times a week in the mornings
I've been doing this for the last 6 weeks and at first was hard to commit especially the water but I feel now are embedded and are nonnegotiables!

HighHeelsHurt · 18/05/2024 18:10

A promise to myself to attend 3 weight training sessions a week (minimum)
5000 steps before 8am (week day)
5k run a weekend (parkrun ideally)
bed by 9.30pm
no electronics around the children between 4-7pm. Charge phone downstairs.

overweight but strong and these habits have improved my life for the better

These are exactly what I was after! How inspiring! You're all so disciplined. I think self discipline is what I'm hoping to improve by starting this thread xxx
