I need skinflint runners to help me with a shoe problem

there are holes in my running shoes

little holes, like you get on the big toe of a sock, on the mesh at the top

they are still really supportive and fine

and I have NO money to buy new ones at present and they are still fine so I want to mend them

duck tape (oh the shame) just fell off

any ideas?

Do the holes cause a problem? I'd just ignore them, tbh. (They do actually need replacing fairly often, though ...)

Cappuccino · 04/04/2008 13:00

they are a bit annoying if I am going downhill because my toes slide into them

I don't mind what they look like; and I don't need them to be uber-perfect because I am still recovering from ME so I am only walking in them

there is no question of replacing them until I return to work and get off incapacity benefit

Oh, if you're only walking, then shoe condition is a much smaller issue.

Ok, can you sew? I would try to sew up the holes, I think. Use thick cord, and try to replace the net, iyswim.

ooer

sewing

okay

Can you stick a plaster over the hole on the inside? A big bit of the breathable pink fabric stuff?

I don't blame you for not wanting to buy new. Had a real shock when I found out ho much proper running shoes were.

Cappuccino · 04/04/2008 15:00

phew

no sewing

Am so glad someone else has a hole in their meshy bits! I thought it was only me who went out with the wind whistling through - extra ventilation methinks.

Capp - do you run or power walk? I've just started walking/running recently and am amazed at how quickly I have become addicted - I get twitchy if I sense rain coming on...
