Very slow weight gain - only 15lbs at 11 months

My nephew has been very slow to gain weight, in fact has gained not much more than a pound in the last 6 months. He is not the best eater in the world but is still being breastfed, so I'm sure that he is getting enough to eat.

He is meeting milestones fine, and crawled before he was 6 months old.

He has been reffered to a paediatric doc to get to the bottom of why he is so tiny. They have checked for a murmur but I think they want to check further in case there is something wrong with his heart

My DD was 15 lbs 14 oz at 11 months so your nephew is not alone. She is a good eater but will not touch milk! Has your nephew's length been measured? The HV told me that in lighter babies they take length as a better indicator than growth as it tells you whether or not they are getting enough calories.

Hope all goes well with the paediatrician and that the investigations only show up a healthy baby.

MY dd has a heart problem and was a slow gainer BUT there were other signs too, sweaty, breathless, repeated infections, vomiting, true weight loss. I wouldn't be too concerned heart-wise with just a slow weight gain. Hope everything turns out OK.

he had bronchilitis last autumn and had ben wheezy/coughing ever since. I don't see them often as we live far away but I think he has always been quite chesty
