Deep breaths.

Ring the practice nurse and have her give you a tetanus booster if it's been more than 10 years since your last one or your last one was in childhood.

Are you up to date with tetanus, might be worth going to nurse to get it cleaned properly and a jab if not.

claricebeansmum · 03/04/2008 13:04

when did you last have a tetanus injection?

Watch the wound - swelling, pus etc get yourself to dr

expatinscotland · 03/04/2008 13:07

DH did this at work - rusty tin lid.

He just rang the surgery, the nurse cleaned it up and gave him a jab - he's 30 and his last one had been in childhood.

He was fine after that.

arrgh I don't about tentus jabs. At school? so yes prob more than 10 years ago.

It look a bit red and sore around it but not bit swelling. It'd be obvious and ugly right?

Several years ago I was bitten by a dog and went off to the local Small Injuries Unit to get a tetanus jab. The nurse told me that they no longer did this, as the jabs you had in childhood lasted a lifetime. Don't panic, but do check. I wasn't convinced, and saw it as a Government let's save money exercise, but I still had no adverse effects anyway.

Get thee to a tetanus jab, sorry

but no, tetanus wouldn't necessarily look bad around the wound itself, and my mum had to have a refresher jab after cutting herself whilst gardening, so. Best done.
