Blood test results…. Blank anyone any ideas please

Last week I had a severe reaction to penicillin needed a blue lighted ambulance etc.
a&e did mast cell tryptase said it would take a week and to call my gp for results.
called today (9 days after). To be told the results are there, first blood test results are blank and second say “see first test for results”. However that’s blanks. She wasn’t fussed and just said they are either lost or going to take longer. Taking longer I can’t see as why send results saying look at first test?
SHe clearly didn’t care I thought I was going to die last week and hopefully I won’t be having this blood test ever done again (as would need to take penicillin). Anyone ever had “blank results” did it need longer? Can the gp surgery chase? Any advice would be great. Thank you

yes it can take a while for the results to come back (weekends may not count in the timescale either). You do need the first result back in order for the second and third to be interpretable.

Hi everyone.first time on here.
I have 5 kids of my own but this is about my granddaughter. She is 16months old and for the past year she has had problems with pooing. They are very large and extremely painful. My daughter has taken her to the gp many times and has been prescribed laxido. This helps very little. My granddaughter has been on this almost a year.
when she has a break from the laxido as told to do so by gp,she gets awful diarrhea, doesn’t eat and is very fatigued. When my daughter takes her back to the gp she gets the same response to use th laxido. We are all worried there may be something underlying here but the gp’s just don’t seem to want to try anything else to figure out what’s going on. No tests, nothing. A diary has been kept of food and drink taken, activities, sleep patterns and videos of how agonising it is when she poos. We have tried all different foods that naturally help with bowel movements and nothing helps. What can we do now ? X

@Greybeardy I have only had 2 blood tests one an hour and a bit after, second three hours after?
apparantly the second test said see the first 🤦🏼‍♀️. Have seen on line I should have had a third to see what is normal. My nurse had no idea what the test was and the actual test was done in a&e

@Greybeardy the 3rd test is a random value so can be completed at any point at least 24 hours after the reaction. It’s to get a base value for your normal serum tryptase levels. Has anyone explained to you what the test is actually for? Basically, you have cells called mast cells that release chemicals when you have an anaphylactic reaction. One of those chemicals is a protein called tryptase which is quite a large molecule and so easily measurable. The reason they need 3 tests is a) if you don’t have raised tryptase levels then your illness might not have been anaphylaxis but something else and b) if you have raised tryptase levels all the time then you might have a condition called mastocytosis which makes you more susceptible to anaphylaxis, amongst other things. The 3 tests let them see the level of tryptase over time. That’s why the result for test 2 only makes sense when looking at the result for test 1. I hope this helps 🙂
