bovine bile and vitamin k at birth

Second baby on the way in the next few weeks. I'm not a vegetarian but still quite careful about where my meat comes from [cjd paranoia]. Apparently you used to be able to get a vegetarian vit k for babies but now no longer, it is made by roche. I rang them and they weren't very keen to give out any info on where the bovine material is sourced from. Apparently they will ring me back. are there any regulations about where bovine material has to be sourced from in medicine? Anyone know, or care?
Seriously, would like to know though..

No idea...but have you considered not giving vit k? Are there factors that predispose your LO to needing it especially?

do many people decline the Vit K then? Last time felt under pressure by midwife to do it. Don't really know what the risk ratio is -I'll probably be having an elective c section this time after emergency one last time...

AIMS do a good booklet going through the issues that helped me make the decision.

See here & look under Publications:

Yes. DS had a normal delivery so didn't see any point in it. Not sure what my decision would be if I'd had an assisted delivery or CS though....I agonised over it for much of the pregnancy & then my NCT antenatal teacher lent me a copy of that booklet which helped a lot.
