minkulus · 01/04/2008 22:49

I have started to suffer from tremendous mood swings and have been really vile to my DH. I get where I can be up one minute and in an absolute rage over something very minor. My DH is like a deer in the headlights and my DD gets quite upset when 'mummy shouts' at daddy .
I haven't really tried any remedies, but i'm more of a natural woman that a pill popper so would rather try the hippydippy route first IYSWIM
Thanks for any advice.

Do you eat properly? I find my PMT is much worse when I've been eating badly, either not proper meals or too much chocolate, this is normally when I'm tired which probably contributes anyway - but I've found that if I eat proper meals and lay off the sugary crap my PMT does seem to be 'less' horrendous.

Pop some Vitamin B6!!

I take it for two or three days per month, one a day, as soon as I feel weepy/angry etc.

Get some asap and I'm sure you will feel 'yourself' again (oo-er!) within minutes. Good luck

B6 seems to have worked wonders with me, especially for tiredness too.interested by starflower....have bin poppin evening primrose oil too.

Wisteria · 05/04/2008 22:40

Evening primrose didn't do much for me, I tried that first as I know others who have had good results with it. I've been on the Starflower oil properly for a couple of months and feel so much better it's untrue - quite a new woman; much calmer and less irritable

Try cutting out caffeine (stops absortion of b vits and magnesium) and be careful with your diet. i had HORRENDOUS pmt for years. the other remedies didn;t work for me but I know they do for others. You have to find what works for you. good luck, I knwo how awful it is.

There was a female doctor a while back who had great success by getting women to eat little and often small amounts of carbs not the sort like white bread, potatoes and rice which are convered quickly by the body to sugars but longer acting ones like you find in whole foods nuts etc. Worth checking out the GI diet and seeing if it will help you.

Good mix of vit b complex, either from increase in diet or supplement as well as magnesium and zinc. This site is a good one for learning in which foods you can find things
