Feeling of lump upper right abdomen

I’m reluctant to go to GP as I’ve been a lot lately with various ‘vague’ complaints.
But the past few weeks I’ve had some mild pain/discomfort upper right abdomen and a constant feeling of a lump in that area especially when I bend forward. I can’t feel a lump when I press but it’s tender deep inside somewhere.
I thought at first maybe a pulled muscle or digestive issues (of which I have many) but it’s not going away.
Doesn’t seem to match with gallbladder symptoms I’ve read about…
What could it be? Watch and wait? Ignore? Brace myself for another GP appointment? Urgent or not? The non urgent wait is several weeks at my GP…

I had similar and went to the Gp who said it was a lypoma and nothing to worry about. It is only a small lump

Could they tell without a scan or anything? I can’t feel anything with my hands but it constantly feels like there’s a lump inside if that makes sense!

Floating rib syndrome?

BlackInk · 21/04/2024 22:57

I don’t ‘think’ so… feels deeper than ribs.

Give it three weeks. Don’t worry about it until then. If it’s still there then go doctor

BlackInk · 22/04/2024 10:41

It's already been there 3 weeks, but yes I think I'll wait a bit longer and hope it goes!

OP given the wait for a non urgent appointment at GP, I would make the appointment now and you can cancel if all clears up. Peace of mind.

Could it be a hernia. Have you lifted anything really heavy?

BlackInk · 26/04/2024 12:06

No heavy lifting, just everyday stuff.
I contacted the GP and have an appointment for next Friday...

Hi OP, did you get this checked out in the end? I have the exact same symptoms as you. X

It’s really helpful if posters report back

Hi @FTM1994

My GP referred me for an ultrasound scan, mainly because he said my aorta felt prominent to him. But ultrasound was normal. It picked up a small hernia, but it's nowhere where I can feel a lump - the hernia is near my belly button. GP says no further action and that the hernia 'will settle' which is so frustrating.

I can still feel the sensation of a lump/discomfort/pain in my upper right abdomen. Some days it's more noticeable than others but definitely still there. I guess the ultrasound would have picked up if it was anything to worry about but still...

I'm also frustrated that he said the hernia would settle. Everything I've read says that umbilical hernias should be repaired because they don't get better on their own, usually get bigger and can sometimes be dangerous but...

I'm all out of energy trying to find out what's going on to be honest!

Sorry if this isn't helpful!

Thanks for replying. I think you should go back if it hasn’t settled. Did you ask how long you should leave it before coming back?
