I saw your message on OJ's thread, but I didn't want to hijack so I thought I would start a new thread. I just wanted to tell you that my brother was diagnosed just over four years ago with the same thing that Harry has. His lesions too were all on one lobe of his liver. He had bowel surgery, liver surgery, chemo and something called radiofrequency ablation to remove the final lesion from his liver that it was not possible to remove surgically. His last treatment was two years ago and he has been clear of cancer since, and has just gone from three-monthly to six-monthly CAT scans. We all believe that one important factor was that he was given Avastin as part of his chemo regime. AFAIK here in the UK it has not yet been approved as a first-line treatment for bowel cancer (on cost grounds) but it is worth asking your oncologist about.
But mainly, I just wanted to reassure you that it is possible to recover from this and treatments have improved immeasurably in the past few years. Wishing you the very best.
Rosa

Hiya Trips, well it has just gone midnight and we are going into Wednesday. This is the time I miss you the most - late at night in our alcoves.

Yesterday, my friend Ged and his wife Rachael celebrated their first wedding anniversary in Faliraki, Rhodes. They held a small party and Nikos, our barman, was on the internet from their house. They got him very drunk and put all kinds of messages on msn for me and e mailed me over and over they are wonderful friends and I miss them very much.

Ged is a scouser and his wife is a cockney. Weird mixture but it is obviously working. It ended up at 4am British time with them singing to me on webcam from 2,500 miles away.

Hope your holiday is going well, I miss you my lovley friend.xxxxxxxxxxxx

Triplets - I am so sorry to hear about this - it is so, so unfair

I hope very much that your Harry gets the medical care he needs to help him battle his way through this!

In the meantime, you are all very much in my thoughts.

Morning sweetheart - just writing in my diary for you.

The multiples have started a new thread - something about a dog and reading

OJ has Steve home and sounded like they were all really enjoying themselves. Last night Steves sister went to visit and caused nasty arguments and OJ was, quite rightly, very angry. I posted on her thread but, as usual, was lost for the right words!!

Tiggs little girl, Molls, was in hospital. Didn't sound serious but I felt worried for her. When I know more details I will post them on here for you. I like Tiggs - she is full of fun isin't she?

Hope your holiday is 'doing the trick' for all of you. Time to recharge your batteries and prepare for what has to happen and what will be succesful.

I miss you my lovley xxxx

trulymadlydeeply · 10/04/2008 07:03

You're such a lovely person, Shabster. What a good friend

shabster · 10/04/2008 07:27

Thanks TMDeeply - we have been friends for many years in RL! Only met each other once but somehow it dosen't seem to matter.

Forgot to tell you Trips - they have decided on Multiples they are all going to be honorary aunts to our granbaby. Auntie Ruby, Auntie Mars etc etc. Made sure they all knew that you are Lewis' ONLY honorary grandma.

What do you fancy being called? Nana or Grandma? I quite fancy being Ya Ya (Greek for Grandma) - Ya Ya Shabster

Saw Dan and Em yesterday - Ems bump is growing like a tomato plant in miracle feed!!! She is huge 9 weeks to go till we meet the little lad.

shabster · 10/04/2008 12:57

Extra note in the diary!!

Oh trips - your parcel just arrived.

The knitting patterns are just brilliant - you, and your mum, have saved me a small fortune. Thank you sooooooooo much.

Now I just have to finish these 4 aran cardigans that are on order

MarsLady · 10/04/2008 13:12

We miss you. Hurry home before PapaFeelGood gets nekkid and you miss it all!

Pinkchampagne · 10/04/2008 13:21

Just seen this, triplets, and I am so so sorry you are going through this - like soapbox says, it seems so unfair.

You & your family are in my thoughts.xx

Morning Trips - hope your holiday is going really well - I miss you.

It is freezing here - really, really cold and raining like mad.

Pixie has been out for her DH's birthday (I think) and taken all the children! WOW hats off to Pixie.

Tiggs little girl - they are waiting for some blood test results but Molls wouldn't stay in hospital Dont know if Tiggs is playing it down in her usual coping way but Molls does sound much better.

Cant wait to hear from you when you come back. Until then my love I hope you are happy and enjoying life to the full

shabster · 12/04/2008 01:40

OMG Trips I have just gone crazy on a thread about benefits - why people who are on benefits should not go on holiday!!

You know me...got nowt...no new anything , clothes, shoes etc etc. I will go to my beloved Faliraki for as long as I choose to. This year has been difficult, air fares sky high and the euro against the pound...that is just a joke. BUT life is too short to give a dam what other people think about you.

This is the time that I miss you the most. Also whilst I am in Faliraki I can get free internet connection so I will post on these threads and tell them what a fab time I am having.

I am so I think my head may blow up

shabster · 12/04/2008 01:54

Danny boy from Brassed off

Think I have already put this on here. I am so proud of my coal miner roots (on both sides of mine and Derricks family) and this is a perfect clip from the film Brassed Off. I have been a nowty, angry, hormonal old bag tonight on MN

shabster · 12/04/2008 09:58

Morning Trips - I have just thought I don't even know when you are due back!!

I have thought about you every day and hope that you have had just the best time possible

Thinking of cancelling today due to my total lack of interest xxx

Speak soon love x
