bit of numbness on big toe

Hi there - for the last week or so I have had a vague numbness on the tip of my left big toe. I think it came on after a day of shopping - wearing my boots and I think my sock squidged up so my toe got pressed against top of my boot and it was a bit numb when i took my boots off. not an uncommon feeling, BUT this time it didnt go. Has anyone ever had this??? Not massively worried about it, but wonder whether I should see my GP (or whether he would laugh and tell me to quite literally pull my socks up ). I know that loss of feeling can indicate circulation type problems, but this I think os more of a nerve thing possibly? Any chance anyones had any experience of this???!

V likely to be nerve damage from squashing your toe. I did this with my 'ring' toe on my wedding day (was wearing killer heels) and it took about two years to recover!

Thanks for your reply, thats a long time LVAASC!! But if thats all it is I can live with that! Did you ever get it checked out or did you just know thats what it was?

this happened to me after wearing Birkenstocks ovr the summer. I searched the net and discovered, like Larry said, it's nerve damage. Mine only took about 6 months to recover, though.

I did mention it to the doctor (I think I'd probably saved up 3 or 4 embarrassingly trivial problems to bother her with lol). I wasn't partic worried as it was fairly obvious that I'd done some damage to it (it really was completely numb for ages).

Ah, so AdamAnt and SpawnChorus are one and the same! I see! Never heard of Larry Veest!

i know someone with numbness in both toes. she went to the dr and he refered her for mri as it was two toes not one. all clear so they believe it is likely to be nerve damage but she was told if got worse to go back .
