I have a 6 month old DC
Have been feverish, nauseated, sore throat, and all the symptoms you can guess

I also have an inflammation in my shoulder joint dt carrying him a lot with my left arm

I am so scared about him picking up the flu from me

I parent alone since Dh is working abroad

MIL has leg wound and she doesn't help that much

I can ask my mom for help sometimes but she makes me feel like its a burden when she does it and keeps mentioning that he is my child not hers

I am scared about not caring well for my baby and BF is so difficult when u ur self find it hard to go to the restroom even

Can someone suggest what should i do

Ps he does drink formula since we have mixed feeding but sometimes he refuses the bottle,

I don't have friends living close by who can help me much,

Am in pain and I don't want to harm DC 😞😢

First of all it sounds like you’re coping amazingly well so far.
but you need to at least get to a doctor/a&e and someone NEEDS to come and support you. Mum or MIL.
sounds like you have an infection which needs checking out. The shoulder could be unrelated but maybe not.

going forward one of those support pillows for shoulder.
call you husband and get him to sort one of them to come and help you.

Thank you so much for the motivation

It all happened so abruptly

In less than 24 hours, but its true that i should be seeing my GP

It's easier to ask help from MiL yet my mum is closer

Dh is about 7 hours away of travel time so i would be feeling guilty bringing him

I will try to sort it out but this is the first time since a while that i felt i really do need help

Thank you againb

I would try to breastfeed if you can. Partly ti keep supply going but also because your milk will provide the antibodies to fight the infection so if baby dioes have it which will will help them recover. Can you use a pillow to lay baby on rather than your arm.
Also agree ask fior some help and see the doctor as you may need meds.

Usually when I do not hold baby he feels ignored and sometimes won't BF until i hold him

But i will try to temporarily use a pillow because that is the best i can do

Thank you so much 😇

Any chance you have mastitis if it has come on so quickly?

@Garman I don't feel significant pain in my breast

It's all joint pains and general fatigue with flu symptoms but it hit so suddenly and hard

I have taken paracetamol helps a little but not that much

  1. please see your doctor for some pain relief that's breastfeeding-safe

  2. yes continue to feed him

  3. really important that you are nourished too. Ask MIL and your mother for help if you need it.

  4. so what if your mum makes a comment? Family help each other especially when there's a new baby or someone js il, certaibly both. Either she helps or she doesn't, but what she says isn't really of consequence - you have the baby to focus on.

Hope you feel better soon.

Should breastfeeding continue when mom is sick? • KellyMom.com

Mastitis can be flu like symptoms. You can take ibuprofen, better for inflammation and pain.
