Blood tinged saliva

Hi, I'm mostly looking for any kind of hope or hand to hold. A week ago I tasted blood in my mouth but assumed it was just oddly tasting phlegm. I've had a chronic allergic type cough for years and post nasal drip. I didn't think it was blood so I just drank water and never noticed anything else. Last night that taste happened again and I tried to spit. There was blood mixed with my spit. I know I need to see a doctor but wondered if anything benign could cause this on two separate occasions. I have a bad habit of coughing hard which is what I wanted to think happened here but having another episode only a week or so ago makes me feel like it's something worse. I've heard forceful coughing can rupture delicate vessels but could that really happen more than once on two separate occasions?

Thanks. Not pregnant. Never smoked.

It could be anything or nothing OP. Best to contact your doctor to see if they'll see you or at least talk things through over the phone.

Have you seen a dentist recently? They get so up close and personal they might also be able to advised- though you may have to pay if you can't get an NHS dentist. I once had a dentist suggest I saw a GP as there were worrying spots inside my mouth and I had to have three biopsies which, thankfully, were quite innocent. The other thing is, are your gums healthy? Are they sensitive, sore or bleed? Do you have regular checkups? 🌹
