UTI symptoms in 3 year olds

Evening,

I suspect my son may have a UTI. He is fully potty trained and had 8 accidents today at nursery, aswell as one at home. He also had a few over the weekend. Has been waking in the night crying and says his belly hurts. I asked him where it hurt today and he pointed to his lower belly.

Its like he can’t make it to the toilet in time, it’s not a little drip, like he normally does, it’s soaking him. He gets quite distressed and I really want to figure out what could be happening for him. Any similar experiences would be appreciated. Potty trained 9 months if that’s helpful and has never had 8 accidents in a day, even at the very start.

It sounds like it may well be, I would be calling 111 tonight to get him seen.

UTIs in little boys are much less common than girls - I think you need to get him seen ASAP, especially if he's been having issues since the weekend. Arrange to see the out of hours doctor.

Thank you both, he has just been booked in to see a Dr tonight.
