Long-standing breast lump suddenly painful

I have had a benign lump in my breast for 20 years. I had all the necessary investigations when it was first discovered, then further tests when it changed shape about 15 years ago. I have regular mammogmammograms, all is well.

I am used to it now and know if it changes and I am not concerned about it.

I am post menopausal but at the suggestion of my GP I am taking HRT Kliofem 2mg daily. I have really bad hot flushes without it.

However last night in bed I felt a sharp, stabbing, burning pain in that breast. The lump isn't bigger or changed shape and all of my breast is tender and sore. My other breast is tender too.
My breast with the lump is still really painful this morning.

Not to drip feed I am struggling to find a comfortable bra AND I have a frozen shoulder on that side.

I don't want to go to my surgery unless it's urgent. They will see me today if I push. I wondered if I should just ask to discuss this over the phone with a GP.

Has any one else experienced this?

I would go and get it checked.

This.

Breast cancer can be triggered by changes in hormones particularly post menopausal so I would make sure it is checked again.
If it is painful you might have some options for your lump to be removed even if it isnt cancerous
