I have been waiting for a date for my ankle surgery for well over a year. I got the call today to say it is booked for 26 April which is brilliant. The only problem is that we go to Cornwall at the end of May.

Does anyone who has had the procedure know if this will be manageable? It will be two long drives in each direction (we are staying overnight halfway) and then a week of beaches, walking and a hot tub.

This is our only holiday of the year and I really don't want to spoil it for my family by being off my feet but of course don't want to miss my chance to have the op either.

I would think you'll either be on crutches or in a boot at that point, but ring the surgeon's secretary and ask. Personally, I'd be tempted to move the holiday to the autumn, because you definitely won't be able to do much walking.
