I’ve had something similar. Would definitely go to the doctors if no signs of improvement after 4 weeks.
Mine started as a chesty cough 3rd week of January, which lasted 5-6 weeks and in between the congestion started. I’ve likened it to a baton being passed between the two. I thought I was finally shifting the congestion but it’s been back with a vengeance all weekend.
I now feel near constantly blocked up and if I try blowing my nose dry nothing happens. If I use a saline spray first or blow my nose after inhaling steam from menthol crystals in hot water, mucus comes out. It’s now back to being green: the joy!
I feel fine in myself and have done throughout, which is one saving grace. I saw a locum GP about it on February 28 as the cough was still lingering and I’d tried different over the counter options by then. The congestion had been giving me grief for around a fortnight by that point. I was advised likely a sinus infection, which I’m no stranger to although it’s been a good 10 years since I’d last had one. The last one made me feel very unwell and dragged on for months
I was prescribed a steroid nasal spray when I saw the GP on February 28 but don’t think it did a lot.
Nasal congestion seemed to be finally going away a week ago. To be honest the intermittent effect on my smell and taste was the most annoying thing. However, since the weekend the congestion has worsened. I’ve got pain on my face now, which I didn’t have before.
I’ve got a prescription for a short course of antibiotics now and have been told to use the steroid spray twice daily.
I find the saline nasal spray and inhaling steam provides temporary relief.
