About 2.5 years ago, my big toenail split down the middle when I was cutting it. It started to discolour and harden, so I went to a podiatrist. She told me by looking at it that it wasn’t fungus and just the result of trauma and would always look like this. She filed it down and told me just to file it now and then when it gets thick.
Well, I am sick of having a thick nail. It’s painful and really ugly looking. When I file
it, it just splits and looks worse.
Is there anything I can do about this at home? Should I seek a second opinion? Am I resigned to keeping it covered for the rest of my life and to being unable to take care of it as I get older?
