Can any dentists give me any advice?

I had an infection around a year ago (last feb) around my wisdom tooth, my dentists extracted it and I had antibiotics. All symptoms went, tooth removal went great. X rays showed all the tooth was removed. I suffer with gingivitis which I think is more advanced, I went to the dentist yesterday and the dentist prescribed me Colgate dolophate (I think it’s called? 5000) however over the last week I’ve had real bad pain in the same area and a hole has formed. They said they think it’s just my gum anatomy and told me to use the toothpaste. But it’s really painful, I have a horrible taste in my mouth and the hole is just getting deeper. Does anyone have any advice or experience? I’ve added an image for reference

@YourEagerTealZebra have you got the top wisdom tooth? As i can see signs of cheek chewing and it looks like the indent of an upper cusp.
