Strange bright red blotches come and go

For a couple of years I've had these strange patches or blotches come up on my chest, neck and face. They come on with no itching or other symptoms and I wouldn't have known they were there unless I was told by someone (once by a doctor who noticed it in consultation, another few times by students or friends) and a few times when I've looked in the mirror.

As I said, there is no soreness or itching and it's not raised. It goes down as quickly as it comes up. I noticed this today when going to the bathroom at work. I was really surprised (and a bit embarrassed as it looks like a love bite!). I went back to the bathroom about 10 minutes later and it was gone.

Has anyone any ideas as to what it could be?

I don't suffer from any allergies and nothing had touched my neck before this (or before the other times).

I am 43 and wondered if it could be something pre -menopausal like hot flushes but I don't feel hot with it either.

Anxiety induced?

I used to see similar on my boss who'd been newly promoted when they had to talk to us and she was anxious/stessed but a few came up on her neck rather than one. It was like blushing but from the chest up iyswim.

My colleague gets like this any time she's anxious or stressed (or lies 🤣).

I don't lie 🤓

It could be stress I guess.

Yes, before it's been like blushing on my chest and more widespread. On my face it's usually just one area.
