7 week old with a cold - anything I can do?

My 7 wk old DD2 has been suffering from a cold for a few days now. She has a dry cough and a snotty nose, she's only able to sleep sat up on me as whenever I lie her down she starts choking. Do I just have to grit my teeth and let things run their course or is there anything I can do? I've got a nasal aspirator for her but the snot is quite runny so her nose is never actually blocked. I did think of using snufflebabe (I love the stuff) but she's far too young.
Any ideas?

saline drops???

BellaBear · 28/03/2008 12:43

sit in a steamy bathroom for a bit perhaps?

Yes too young for Vick and Snufflebabe. Saline drops is all you do really. And prop her mattress up a bit.

Saline drops from the chemist and I put mine to sleep in her car seat when she had a cold at that age.

We bought an electric steamer when DD was small and have used it soooooo much since. I think I paid about £25, it's a Vicks one. think this is their latest one

Fresh air clears their little noses (wrap up well) and also sitting in a steamy bathroom works wonders

Looks like DD2 will be sitting in the bathroom tonight then! Thankyou for all the ideas, I'll be giving them all a go this weekend in the hope I get more than 2 hours sleep in a row
