Burning sensation in abdomen for months

Hiya.

My sibling is 65. He's never smoked, nor is he overweight.
He has had problems with acid reflux for 40 years.
He also has a large prostate and awaiting an appointment for that
as there has been invincible blood in his waters caused by the enlarged prostate
tests revealed. He said it was some sort of camera but down his waterworks.
He has been on Omeprazole for the last 10/12 years and was taking 20mg in the morning.
Sibling saw his GP who recommended a double dose of Omeprazole, ie
20mg morning and 20mg in the evening.
As only a bit of difference, he rang his GP, who asked him to try 20mg mornings and 20mg in the evening before meals. This made a difference a few days later and a lot less burning but now back at square one. The GP
has now referred him for endoscopy and ct scan of the fast-track

(Brother had an ultrasound scan done privately yesterday, and they told him kidneys looked ok as well as the gallbladder and liver but they could no see the pancreas properly as there was gas as DB has suffered from constipation for years.

He also told me he was diagnosed with a Hiatus hernia and Diveritclitis about 8 years ago and is not on meds for that.

The burning often when sat down and wearing a trousers with belt - often starter lower abdomen and or left and spreads to the groin, upper leg but can move to right of the abdomen and leg

He eats a lot and feels hungry and has not lost weight that he knows of.
He drank too much most weekends like most men in my family, often on a Saturday night but good as teetotal for the rest of the week but has cut back since Dec 2023 and hardly drinks other than a drink in moderation every 2/3 weeks on a weekend.

The burning is and can happen above and below the belly button left and right sides. It is hardly noctice when standing or lying down - but not like acid reflux he said as that pain/discomfort and burning is different.

Any ideas as I'm worried?

Please, no scary stuff but honest stuff that is reassuring

(Btw, he said it is not the same burning when he got it mainly left of the abdomen and this travelled down to the groin and left upper leg. He was subsequently diagnosed with Diverticlcuts and the aforementioned are the typical symptoms he said

My gallstones cause burning on the right and left sides at times, under the ribs. But I think this is probably related to his hiatal hernia. There are support groups for HH on Facebook that might be able to help if you describe his symptoms there.
