dd (2 years old, just!)has been ill with the runs since saturday. she was sick all monday night and tuesday morning.shes eaten a couple of biscuits 1 yogurt and a few bites of fruit all week (since sunday). drinking ok. she seemed a little brighter yesterday in herself but still had the runs. anyway this morning i heard her have a little wimper about 5am, but thought nothing of it. got up at 7 and she woke up crying so i went into her. There was sick and diarrhoea everywhere. And i mean everywhere i didnt know where to start. i have never seen so much with my 3 other dcs put together!! shes been pale and off colour today and not really wanting to eat much and not had much to drink. she started crying about an hour ago and said she had a poo so i changed her and there was just loads and loads of black and dark green thread type things in her nappy. at first i though worms but they are the wrong colour and not moving. they break apart easily, so not hair/cotton etc which was another thought that went through my head. shes fast asleep on the sofa now with a temperature. i dont know what it is in her nappy. it smells foul and nothing like what shes produced since saturday when she started being ill. shes a bit on the underweight side anyway (under the 9th centile) so its not like shes got much to lose being ill!! please someone help. i am in a right flap.

I don't know - but I didn't want you to go unanswered. They always tell you to watch out for mucosy type things in stools etc - maybe give NHS direct a ring?

its the drinking thats important isn't it?

Poor you.

AnAngelWithin · 27/03/2008 14:45

its not mucousy, kist looks like lots of thread s of cotton.

eating doesnt bother me as long as they are drinking but shes not really doing that now either.

how did you get on at the doctors?

AnAngelWithin · 27/03/2008 18:38

hi. sorry got home them MIL turned up going on at me about what i should be doing!!

doc thinks dd's got a bad virus (they always say that) and that it looks like shes swallowed something fibrous but doesnt know what. she felt dds tummy and said theres no sign of a blockage so to see how the weekend goes and take her back monday if shes still got the runs.

i cant think what on earth she could have swallowed to look like that!!

thanks for your help. i know im a moaning cow! lol

no you're not a moaner! Sounds bloody awful, and quite a shock finding that in her nappy.

I wonder what she ate, as you say she's into eating odd things.

Hope she improves. Has she got near any animal food, cat's or dog's?

Have you hamsters or such like, as I nkow someone whose little girl ate sawdust and hay once.!
