Mine seems to be. Before DD I had the odd mood swing but these days I'm horrid and turn into a hateful person just before my period. I get irrationally angry and really want to control it better. Anyone take any supplements that work?

me

i take vitamin B, evening primrose, and a calcium and magnesium supplement

i used to just take vit B and evening primrose, but it wasnt really helping, then i read somewhere (on here i think) about the calcium and magnesium, and thats helping more

Thanks very much nailpolish, I used to take EvP but I don't think it helped. I'll give the calcium a go though.

Yes. I haven't realy done anything about it but I should get some supplements. I've read about various things on here which I might give a go.

It also varies from month to month. I've also noticed that I have mood swings when I ovulate...unless it's my imagination!

TigerFeet · 27/03/2008 11:01

Me, definitely.

It never used to be a problem (other than mad chocolate cravings) pre dd but now I am a raging hormonal wreck for 4-5 days a month.

I am waiting for my supplements to arrive

gingerninja · 27/03/2008 11:14

What ones have you ordered Tigerfeet?

i get it during ovulation too

although milder

gingerninja · 27/03/2008 11:23

I think I do too, I definately have ovulation pains and I think moods are definately affected.

I really don't like the person I become and I'm always horrid to DH.

I've ordered a supplement called Kiki's superfood which is a blend of all sorts of stuff (as recommended by FrannyandZooey) and something else (sorry forgotten what it is, chromium maybe??) which allegedly helps with carb cravings

They are to help with general wellbeing but I hope they'll help with this, the thought being that if my immune system, digestive system etc is in better order then I'll be able to cope better.

I have just said about this on a thread this morning. I have 6 children but since the last one (10 months ago) i have had 3 periods and have been positively psychotic for a few days before it starts and thoroughly miserable.

I had no idea it could start after having several children. I thought it would happen after the first.

Will look in to the supplements, ta!

nailpolish · 27/03/2008 11:25

ginge, im horrible to my dh sometimes too and i cry loads too

keep a diary of your periods - at least that way you can tell yourself WHY you are being a cow and if you are AWARE of it then you can try to stop yourself

try the calcium/magnesium supps as well as the evP and the vitamin B (its a lot i know) and give it a good 4-6 weeks til you expect some difference

good luck

gingerninja · 27/03/2008 11:35

will do, thanks

I thought I was imagining getting during ovulation...maybe I'm not the only one then. I might try your cocktail of supplements then NP if it makes a difference.
