Sickness bug with just cramps and diarrhoea?

DS had some sort of bug Sunday night vomited twice and stomach cramps.
Today I've woken up with stomach cramps and diarrhoea, no vomiting but feel a bit nauseous.
It seems strange he had a big if some sort and now I'm poorly, but I was wondering if it's possible and common to get a tummy virus bug without vomiting?

Had this last week! Never had a bug like it before, severe stomach pains and diarrhoea but no vomiting. Passed within 48hr. Get well

From what I've read (massive emetophobe) kids are more prone to vomiting with tummy bugs and adults are more likely to just have diarrhoea. I like to think this is true.
