Can stress cause blood clots ?

long story short , my ex is saying he has two clots on his lungs ,in his words “simply developed from stress because of my baby mother”
is this a thing ? Because I’m being blamed for causing it . Btw he’s a smoker so I thought that would’ve been linked but apparently not:/

I doubt it, far more likely due to smoking and lifestyle!

Blood clots are rare in young, healthy people.

You're more likely to get them if you:

are staying in or recently left hospital – especially if you cannot move around much (like after an operation)
are overweight
smoke
are using combined hormonal contraception such as the combined pill, contraceptive patch or vaginal ring
have had a blood clot before
are pregnant or have just had a baby
have an inflammatory condition such as Crohn’s disease or rheumatoid arthritis
There are also other things that increase your risk of clots.

^^ from NHS website. I think if constant, extreme stress caused them then it would be listed too.

He's talking out his arse.

He had a clot before but in his leg .
maybe linked then ?
I assumed cause he was a smoker , I did think it’s weird that he said cause of stress

I was told that blood clots form in the leg then migrate to the lungs. You can get clots in the legs from flying (or even sitting in a car) long distances. Some airlines offer special DVT socks to prevent them, that's how easy they are to get with flying.

If he smokes, doesn't move around much (stays in chair watching TV, etc) and possibly overweight (?) then he's got a higher chance of one.

I am assuming he will be on blood thinners for life if he's now had three.

No. Stress is not a risk factor for a clot.
If he has had one before they will look for an underlying cause. He might have a tendency to clotting
