Did you have a swollen gland/s with TMD?

Had a swollen gland right beneath my left side jaw/chin (submandibular) for weeks. Grape sized. Painless, independent, squishy. Blood tests and ultrasounds and whatnot are all clear for anything sinister and GP has now referred me to ENT to figure it out.

Now I've stopped flapping about it being anything awful, I've assessed my symptoms rationally. I had some dental work on my right side around 2 months back and have since solely chewed on my left side (just a psychological thing to 'protect' my filling Grin), I was a mostly right side chewer prior to this. I've also been having to consciously unclench my jaw regularly. I'm now realising the jaw ache, clicking, ear ache and the feeling of a pinched nerve in my TMJ and down my neck may not be due to all the poking around I've been doing whilst feeling for the swollen gland (this is what I'd put it down to!). I think it's probably TMD.

Does this sound likely? Did anyone else get swollen glands with TMD? Now I'm feeling around further I've noticed my parotid is also much more swollen than my right side, which weirdly puts me further at ease and makes me more confident in my self diagnosis!

If it does sound about right, should I tell my GP what I think it is or should I make a bee line for the dentist? I don't want to waste an ENT appointment if I don't have to.

@eandz13 did you ever figure this out , I'm suffering with something like this for 12 months !!

@mummy23121 Hi, yeah, it was figured out in the end with an x-ray of my lower jaw/neck and it turns my jaw is just misaligned because of the TMJD and the dental work. So basically because my jaw is wonky, it's making the glands on one side protrude more, so they're not actually swollen, they just look/feel that way. It still pokes out loads now!
