My husband hurt himself a week ago playing football. The point of contact is the circled bit, everything else has gotten progressively worse with even the other side of his leg and foot now bruised. Is this normal or should he get it checked out?

How does it feel when he moves and puts weight on it.

The bruise at point of impact looks about right for a week old bruise, they always look worse towards the end when they go funny shades of yellow and purple.

The bruise on the other side looks like he twisted or wrenched his ankle when it was hit and he has some muscle/tendon damage like a sprain.

If he can weight bear and it's feeling like it's getting a bit better then it was most likely just a sprain and they can take weeks to fully heal.

I'd want that x-rayed. Just because he can walk on it doesn't mean it isn't fractured.
