Thank you @Tilllly I won't feel so alone if I can wait here with you all. My lovely consultant prescribed some diazepam to get me through this next wee while and that once we know whats what he will come up with a plan. He was very clear that he wasn't giving up on me and that he never over promises. I am very lucky to be under his care, I know I am one of hundreds but I always feel that I matter. I am so sorry others here don't have that experience.
I did say to my nurse that my big girl pants have been up and down so often the elastic has gone!! That made her laugh.
Any recommendations on where to get a sturdier pair is very welcome!

lucysmam · 22/03/2024 20:18

In other, not kitten, news; my phone call with oncology this week was a call from a nurse to tell me my bloods are fine, injection & tablets for today signed off, & they'll speak to me once my not tooth has been checked. So a total waste of time when I could have taken a call from the union rep prior to Thursday's meeting at work.

Speaking of which - they've arranged it outside of my working hours 🙄 & on what we've come to know in my group of work/drinking buddies as "pub day"! Not impressed, I like to come home for a nap and then shower on pub day! Will make sure in future they cover me - it's not like they're going to pay me for being there after I finish & for a meeting.

I spotted a fair few new names scrolling to the text box so will head back and catch up now. How is everyone? @Tilllly I didn't spot any Daisy photos! How are your ribs now? (You've probably said further upthread...) @KentishMama how's being back at work?

SewingBees · 22/03/2024 20:36

@lucysmam I used to have a cat that liked going on lead walks. He was a right character.

TopOfTheCliff · 22/03/2024 20:52

@Alittlewornout you made me laugh with the Big Girl Pants. I shall remember to use that sentence. I am going in for a zolendronic acid infusion next week so have to steel myself against PTSD flashbacks in the chemo unit.

I am progressing well with hip recovery still although I had an almost disaster this evening. DH is cooking for us at FILs house so I popped in to get a dessert. While I was inspecting the cheesecakes a worker with a huge trolley of milk ran into me and knocked me over. I was so shocked it took me a while to gather my wits and get up on my crutches. The worker was mortified and started a deeply inappropriate friendly chat asking about my surgery and why I wasn't weightbearing and so on. I think she was trying to charm me so I didn't lodge a complaint. I am unharmed but rather shaken. I managed a lovely yoga session today and have cooked beef stew and rhubarb crumble for 48 for tomorrow. I really don't need a setback!

I was listening to the Princess of Wales on the news. She was so open and honest about her cancer diagnosis it made me cry. Poor thing, I hope she is allowed time and space to go through her treatment out of the public eye. I wish her well.

HellonHeels · 22/03/2024 21:13

OMG @TopOfTheCliff ! To think youve been out cycling, climbing on your boat and being all energetic but came to grief in a supermarket 😱

Are you OK?

thesandwich · 22/03/2024 21:16

@lucysmam what lovely news about kittens!
sorry to see newbies. Sorry you had to join us.
@TopOfTheCliff what a shock- not what you need. Hope you’re ok. Catering for 48! 😮
And Kate- I echo wishing her privacy and time.

TopOfTheCliff · 22/03/2024 21:24

@HellonHeels I am absolutely fine, it was just the shock of being mown down suddenly by an eight foot high trolley! I staggered sideways and lurched into the chiller cabinet so I don't think I actually hit the floor. I was quite confused to be honest! It is indeed ridiculous that I can sail the high seas and cycle in the Himalayas and the Arctic and the Sahara unscathed but come to grief in the dairy section of Sainsbury's 😂

HellonHeels · 22/03/2024 21:29

lucysmam · 22/03/2024 20:05

I've come to share happy...and totally not cancer related...news!

I'm going to be a cat mum 🥰 Kittens born today! I think we'll have two & they'll be indoor cats. I'm just about to look at insurance for them now, and then kitten things on pets at home, and then carriers to get them about. Dd2 jokingly mentioned leads to take them on walks too...

This post is illegal without kitty pics! Congrats on your new status as the mother of kittens 😸

Also, sorry to hear your employers are continuing with the arseholery. I really hope you can get a good outcome.

lucysmam · 22/03/2024 21:52

@HellonHeels newborns 🥰

HellonHeels · 22/03/2024 21:54

Awww they are gorgeous!

Catunderling · 22/03/2024 22:42

😍 how many babies are there?? It's impossible to count!!

I shed a tear for Kate too. I think it was for everyone else in treatment really. I hope she gets all the privacy and support she needs.

TopOfTheCliff · 22/03/2024 23:27

@Catunderling I think you are right. The tears were for all of us going through this awful experience. But on this thread we only have one royal celebrity and that is our own Princess @Tilllly

Are there four little kitties?

TwigTheWonderKid · 22/03/2024 23:56

Aww @lucysmam they are adorable. How will you choose?!

Btw if you are shopping for kitten "stuff" I find Zooplus really good, and cheaper than PAH.

Tilllly · 23/03/2024 05:31

Bloody hell Top, how are you today? I appreciate it was an accident but a bloody careless, avoidable one 🤬

👸 😁

@lucysmam I remember big bad Buttons as a kitten, so cute. All 3 of ours are insured with Animal Friends, they've been very good

Speaking of insurance, all the companies I rang declined to give me holiday insurance
But found one who will cover me for 10 days in Malta... £3009.26p

Sorry for lack of photos.... she gets to Go Out today. We're meeting friends so she'll have 2 doggy friends

Amazing @lucysmam , how adorable! And lovely to see Daisy @Tilllly though sorry to hear about the travel insurance, that is quite a quote. I wonder why they didn't just round up to £3010.

Hope you are feeling okay today @TopOfTheCliff , it sounds dramatic.

Surgery all went smoothly on Thursday and I've been feeling okay so far, though I'm looking forward to getting rid of the drains.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Tilllly · 23/03/2024 08:12

Bugger

Mixed up my meds and just took 300mg of celecoxib, instead of 200mg
Along with 40mg of Zomorph

Figure I won't have pain today...

I googled tho and there are mentions of taking 400mg of it so I figure I've not overdosed

lucysmam · 23/03/2024 08:19

There are 6 kittens.

I have no idea how we'll choose @TwigTheWonderKid ! Maybe the girls should pick one each - although, when we were talking about it last night, dd2 was very much "do what you want" so maybe not 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for the zoopet link - I was browsing kitten stuff last night even though they'll probably ignore most of it 🤣

@TopOfTheCliff glad to see you're not hurt! I think being run into with one of those big things would hurt!

@Tilllly crikey! That's a lot of money! Have fun taking Daisy out.

Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery @demivolte 💐

KentishMama · 23/03/2024 09:42

@lucysmam I refuse to even talk about work for a week because we've just landed on Majorca for a family holiday. (It's pretty bad. Enough said.)

Kiiiiiiittens! I'm in loooooove!

lucysmam · 23/03/2024 09:46

Oh dear. But, enjoy your holiday! I hope it's nice and warm for you, and relaxing 🌞

I'm just ploughing through washing before getting ready to go for afternoon tea. Missed out last time because I was so unwell, so really looking forward to it today.

SewingBees · 23/03/2024 09:48

@KentishMama I hope you have a fabulous holiday. I love Majorca. I'm hoping to go this time next year, I'd like to stay in the north.

This weekend will be dedicated to washing everything ready for our holiday on Friday - two weeks in Scotland revisiting some old favourites places and my oldest friend.

SewingBees · 23/03/2024 09:50

Right on cue the youngest dog has gone into season and the older (male) dog is going slightly nuts as a result. This seems to happen every holiday. She's never off season long enough for us to get her spayed 🙄

TopOfTheCliff · 23/03/2024 10:34

Ooh @KentishMama I love Pollensa it’s such a charming old town. Have a lovely peaceful time.
@Tilllly what will you do? Chance it on the Global Health Card? Or stay home? There are some lovely places here you could go like Scilly or the Hebrides but it isn’t the same as Mediterranean sunshine.

I am unharmed today, no bruises. I am a bold adventurer who laughs in the face of danger so a mere milk trolley cannot daunt me. I will have to remember that on Tuesday when I go for my bone infusion.

Tilllly · 23/03/2024 13:06

Not sure yet

It's a lot of money but we'd really like to go - probably last foreign holiday

Then plan long weekends away here

Still need to check money helper tho - would still prefer an annual policy

Tilllly · 24/03/2024 10:12

Sat at UTC

Think I've a chest infection

☹️

ajandjjmum · 24/03/2024 10:27

Oh no. Hope you get seen and sorted soon @Tilllly .
