'Bruised' after 4 months. Am I being a drama llama?

I think I may have been a bit stupid here, or overthinking....

I slipped and fell 4 months ago and as I fell my leg shot out sideways and I managed to bash my shin full force against a concrete post. Lots of swelling and bruising, but could still walk so thought I'd just ice/elevate etc rather than going to A&E.

But now, I still have a fairly big lump under the skin on my shin and it still looks bruised. Some parts of the injured area are numb too. If I catch my shin on anything it's sooo painful.

I've never had anything quite like this so I'm just not sure if I should be contacting the GP, or should just be getting on with it.

Any advice much appreciated

Of course you should go to gp or minor injuries. Need to make sure it hasn’t broken and healed badly.

Definitely go to the GP!
Normally for leg joints the advice is (or was) six weeks as a rough guide (ie don't rush in for that amount as it could be a gentle sprain). Yours was trauma to a bone though.
I wouldn't have gone either, so get why you didn't, but it's obviously not right.
Good luck!

Oh, thanks for the replies - it was v painful when I had the original injury but I just thought 'my leg isn't falling off and I can weight bear' so just got on with it.
I posted here as I was worried something wasn't right, but didn't know if that sort of thing could just take a while to heal...

I reckon you have chipped the bone. They won’t do much at A&E but you’ll probably get pain killers
