Will the GP give HPV vaccine to boys who missed the school vaccination? DS missed it by one year.
It's very expensive to have it done privately

If by missed it, you mean he was one year older than the group to which it was offered, then you have no option but to pay as there was no catch up programme.

But if he was born after 1 September 2006 and for some reason missed the jab in the schools-based programme (normally offered in year 8), then he might be eligible and you should contact GP surgery

Only boys born after 1st September 2006 are eligible. There was no catch up campaign.
Any boys wanting it born after this date will have to source it privately. It's only one dose now.

Sunnnybunny72 · 12/02/2024 18:59

Born BEFORE this date that should say. Not after.

He was born June 2006

He will need to have it privately then I'm afraid.

Sunnnybunny72 · 12/02/2024 19:29

He's too old then unfortunately.
But if he goes to a sexual health clinic and says he is thinking of having sexual relations with other men, he will get it for free.

hamjamwitch · 13/02/2024 10:23

I contacted the GP and they have agreed to do it 😊

That’s good op. My son missed it as he’s home educated and with covid it got complicated and then forgotten , so last week the nurse at our gp booked us in today . He’s 16.
