Heartburn symptoms or heart?

I'm looking for some advice because I'm worrying myself sick, but it doesn't help that I have health anxiety. Last night, I went out for food and ended up eating more than I should have, so I felt quite full. After a few hours, I ate the rest of my birthday cake rather than throwing it out. It was quite a large slice, and I was probably being a bit greedy! I immediately felt sick. I went to bed shortly after the sick feeling subsided but was still feeling very full. I noticed when laying down that my heart rate was beating very fast, so I struggled to fall asleep, I did eventually fall asleep, but then I woke up sweating, and my heart rate was still beating very fast, I had heartburn and felt extremely sick, with slight dizziness, I went to the bathroom and vomited, I felt so ill! I got back into bed, and my heart rate slowed down, and I felt absolutely fine. Is this normal for heartburn? I do have a hard time digesting fatty foods and getting heartburn as a result when laying down, but I've never experienced anything like that. I'm worried now that there's something wrong with my heart. Has anyone experienced something similar?

“When you eat a large meal, your body diverts more blood to the stomach and digestive system, and away from the heart, with a temporary increase in heart rate and potential slight decrease in blood pressure,”

^add to that the indigestion, your digestion issues, eating so late and having a full tummy when lying down, I’m not surprised your were sweating and vomited tbh. Of course if you are really concerned then you will need to go to A&E but I imagine it was the excess of food.

I've had heart palpitations with indigestion before. I looked it up, apparently the vagus nerve can be triggered by a bloated/swollen stomach, and the vagus nerve affects how the heart beats. It's harmless if that's what's going on.

I'd say if it happens again or you get heart symptoms at other times then get it checked.

I had bad indigestion and felt so full last night after meal out, went to bed, woke up feeling hot and with heart palpitations which caused me not to sleep all night long.. Had a very dodgy stomach, its my own fault for eating so much, when will I learn :/

I expect the sugar in the cake and excessive food increased your heart rate. I get palpitations with excessive sugar. I expect you were a bit hyper! If you get indigestion etc usually then this sounds normal! Eat less next time!!

How old are you and what was the main meal? Any alcohol - even a small amount?

I would say probably heartburn and indigestion, possibly triggered by what you ate.
