So i had my PIP assessment today, i had a text 1.5hrs saying that DWP have received my assessment and they will let
me know when theyve made a decision.
Does this mean i can ring DWP and ask for a copy of my report? And abit worried i got that text super fast…

Yes took months but was worth it x

I’ve just had my tribunal , at the start they said they didn’t understand how DWP could ever justify having stripped my award and that it was being reinstated at least at that level but asked for them to consider enhanced mobility and they agreed - one year of waiting for the tribunal and the stress associated !

@mrsbyers well done for getting it! Good on you :) would u mind me asking if hat conditions you have ? Xx

I have Crohn’s and Chronic Kidney Disease and had had a stroke between last award and this one yet they stripped both my standard living and standard mobility and refused the mandatory reconsideration so went for tribunal - I’ve asked them to award for longer if possible too as none of my health issues will ever improve so see what happens with that !

Starrrz · 07/02/2024 16:56

@mrsbyers im sorry to hear that, thats awful :( you definitely deserve enhanced! Did they back pay you?
i really hope i get it :( the lady seemed ok but i dunno. She did say i wish you luck and u get everything sorted x

I’ll get a years back pay in a week or so , I’m hoping they award for at least a couple of years as this doesn’t do much to help my anxiety !

Good luck with yours but if they turn you down go straight to mandatory reconsideration then tribunal if needed - they bank on people being too stressed to pursue it

Everything they ask is an attempt to trip you up. I have kids and they said if you can look after your kids then you can look after yourself so you don’t need PIP. And if you can’t look after your kids then we need to involve social services. Basically threatening me that if I persist in applying for PIP they’ll take my kids away. They asked me the pet question too, and said if you can feed your dog a tin of food then you can feed yourself. The driving thing too, and the qualifications thing - they said if I can drive and I have a degree then I clearly don’t have any difficulties.

Basicallu it’s a load of bollocks. Everyone keeps telling me I should be getting some support but DWP says no.

Starrrz · 07/02/2024 17:28

@Serrates thats soo bad!!! Did they say that to u on the phone !? Thats awful!

Did same with me about the dog , is that your dog ? What kind is he ? Bet he likes lots of walks …. we are nearly finished so you can take the dog for a walk … just fuck off !

I was also a bit bemused by them noting I was degree educated when that was a decade before I became ill initially.

Starrrz · 07/02/2024 17:38

@mrsbyers omg thats so bad and rude!! I said i had a cat, and i said my partner feeds him in the morn then hes out all day and she said yeah cats are independent. And thats what the end of the pet question. X

If they said that to you, then that is disgusting. And yes, I do believe that a lot of the questions that they ask, are designed to award the least that they possibly can to people applying for help, or deny them outright.

@Starrrz did you get your decision in the end? I've got my assessment today! 😬
