Or has anybody heard of such a virus?

No, but cat fleas can do that

Sounds horrid, hope better soon!

madamez · 21/03/2008 22:29

Fleas. Shoot your cat and move house.

hippipotami · 21/03/2008 22:29

LarryVeest · 21/03/2008 22:30

CorrieDale · 22/03/2008 09:38

Well DH had this earlier this week - he's also had a horrible cold. Not sure whether it's connected.

JackieNo · 22/03/2008 09:40

(we don't have any pets, either)

Psychomum5 · 22/03/2008 09:42

dunno, but I have been up all night sratching my legs raw (so attractive), and DH has been harrumphing about me telling me I have cooties/scabies/fleas

mousemole · 22/03/2008 09:42

DS1 has something similar to this in the autumn. All very strange but did clear up. Good luck !

Psychomum5 · 22/03/2008 09:43

oh, and no cat or dog here either cos I am allergic to em!!!

we do have a rabbit, but the kiddies are i charge of her and she lives outside

trishpops · 22/03/2008 10:10

we got fleas in our old house when we had no pets - quickest and best way to find out if you have fleas isthis is what council pest control told us what to do)
1 boil kettle

2 put inch of so of hot water into white or light coloured bowl

3 place bowl by sofa or bed or both.(or in every room of house if you really want to be sure. fleas live at edge of carpets under skirting boards usually if you have no pets.)

4 go away for half hour or so.

5 come back n check bowls. if you have fleas there wil be at least one flea in the bowl.

then you go to vets who will sell you brill stuff that you use according to intructions and fleas will be gone. trust me :-)

No pets, no carpets even! And nobody else affected. (I did have cat fleas once, and this really isn't what they're like). They're hard red lumps, then they fade to bruises. Painful rather than itchy. They're more like the lumps you get with erethyma nodosum than anything else (yep, have had that too, it's no wonder my legs aren't my best feature) but aren't quite the same as those either. Very strange. Well, they're fading now and no new ones have come to join them so I'll just have to write it off as One of Those Things.
