I have severe health anxiety, and OCD. The slightest symptom.swmds me into meltdown. I've be n having a suoe sharp intermittent ent pain in th side.of my head all night. It comes and goes but when it comes it's so sharp. Google tells me it's a brain aneurysm or an unruptured aneurysm. I'm having a.titak meltdown and I'm sure I'm making it worse. I don't know what to do! Anyone else get weird headaches like that and it's not serious? Please I just need someone to talk me down. It's not sudden intense pain. It's a sudden sharp ache. I feel like I need to hold my head in my hands. I've never suffered with headaches or migraines.

It's fine on lrwry suddenly so I'm not sure. Started with h headache in side of my head and now my neck hurts in th same side. I suppose a pulled muscle is a possibility but would cause a h adache too surely.

Pulling a muscle in your neck or shoulder can definitely cause a sharp pain in your head.
Have you taken any pain killers? Try not to worry. I suffer with really bad health anxiety too so I know how you feel. I think you should only start to worry if your vision goes funny or you're short of breath with it.
Try and relax and turn the light down on your phone while typing

I really understand how everything escalates with health anxiety. Are you with someone who you can chat with and talk you down? Am experiencing the same with close relative …am just batting away his worries and he is so much better .X

Hi OP, I suffer terribly with HA too. The symptoms you're describing could likely be brought on by worrying. I say this as a few years ago I was worried about a lymph node, spent so much time prodding it to the point it was painful, but some days I would wake up, would be fine with no pain at all, then I would remember I was worried about it, and i would get a searing pain through it like little shocks one after the other. I've found this with other areas of my body too, when I've worried over something, then told myself I'm not going to feel/check it, the soreness and tenderness starts. I'm not saying yours is psychological, I just thought I've give you an insight into mine so you can see how it manifests.

Painkillers are a good option if you think you have jarred your neck, and altering the brightness like pp said

Are you on any medication for your HA?

AnxiousEveryday · 06/02/2024 01:07

Yes I take meds fory anxiety, diazepam, beta blockers, anti depressants and also have therapy. Iv had it for 15 years. I've taken some painkillers but don't seem to be helping, my headache is spreading to the rest of my head and my neck feels so tender even to touch in one spot. I've start d to get chest pain too but I'm sure it's anxiety pain causing the chest pain.

Oh op I know this feeling only too well, I'm awake with health anxiety here, I have a cough, just a big standard chesty rattling cough but keep getting sharp pains when I cough ( to be expected) in my own head this is lung cancer or some god awful hospital trip needed for antibiotics, the reality is in a few days this will pass.

If you can the calm app is amazing for me, I was just online looking for it and had a quick scroll and saw your post.

I'm going to take some pain killers as a physical distraction, get a heat bag as my comforter, and pop a sleep story on and try and calm my brain.

I currently have ringing in my ears, pounding heart.

Please be kind to yourself, take the pain killers for a proactive response to the headache and be kind, get some warmth and hot water bottle on your neck will calm you and cuddle up and try and rest.

Youve probably pulled a muscle or nerve thing there if feels like pulling and sharp sudden pains. Try not to panic too much about it it will go away.
