period came 19 days after last one, but strange scanty one. i had been painful there for a few days before.
very dry.
now tampon feels really uncomfortable. feels very dry. is this the end of my tampon use?
painful but not in my stomach.
probably overreacting but not happy.

hi ttp

i'm 45 and have begun to notice a change in my periods - like you, tampon feels 'dry' and can be quite sore, almost as if i were a novice at using them iyswim.

don't think this is the full menopause yet though, i generallly speaking we are still on the young side

i now take evening primrose oil and am looking at the advantages of magnisium supplements, i figure that although they may not end up being much use, they won't do any harm either

loopylou6 · 20/03/2008 22:12

could very well be the beginning of the menopause i think

TheThotPlickens · 20/03/2008 22:12

thanks,
will look into those
and also will look into perimenopause.
there was a really long thread on here quite recently,
so will search it out.

get a mooncup, you will be much more knowledgeable about what comes out and won't have the dry (and presumably friction) problem.

TheThotPlickens · 20/03/2008 22:14

i knew someone woudl suggest mooncup.

perhaps i shoudl

I'm 41 and my periods are definitely changing although this could also be due to 8 years of pregnancy, breastfeeding etc. Sometimes they seem to go on for ages, and other times are quite short. The bleeding has definitely changed too, and I haven't used tampons for years.

I did one of those tests you can get in the supermarket to detect menopausal hormones and it was positive.. It said it could be effected if breastfeeding, which I was at the time so I put it down to that. I don't feel ready to be menopausal yet.

I second the use of magnesium and have used Agnus Castus to relieve some of the feelings of rage I get on a cyclical basis. Have read that cutting down on caffeine helps, but that's one of my props for getting through the day.

You didn't mention mood changes so hopefully you are ok.

There's also now a menopause Topic area, you can look on.

TheThotPlickens · 21/03/2008 08:43

oh thanks mimizan..

i don't feel ready to be menopausal either!

don't know about mood changes.
can be low. can wake up quite low and quite bad pmt. but sort of feel i always have been a moody so and so

Yeah me too.(moody so and so)

I've started exercising which has made me feel better. I'm also concerned about osteoporosis(sp?) as I think pre-menopause is the time to take measures to prevent it. I'm doing a weights class and it's good. It's full of women in their early 40s

TheThotPlickens · 21/03/2008 08:58

back to the swimming pool for me then
