This is the first time that had moviprep before a colonoscopy, 1/2 a pint in and it seems more palatable than the ones that I’ve had before.

Not looking forward to what’s to come though!

You are doing brilliantly by the sounds of it. Just keep going 😊

21ZIGGY · 30/01/2024 17:10

🤢 its yak. It didnt start to work for me for 15hrs and i didnt think id be clear for the colonoscopy but i was fine.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 30/01/2024 17:11

Gosh, well done you!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/01/2024 17:18

@21ZIGGY i was hoping for some action fairly soon and an early night before the next dose at 5am tomorrow.

it’s making me cold so I’ve got the heated throw on now.

OP posts:
Mynewnameis · 30/01/2024 17:21

It was fairly quick for me.

Goatymum · 30/01/2024 17:27

Good luck. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be- drank it cold and through a straw! Put some Vaseline or sudocrem on your bum hole pre-shitting! Be v near a loo!

Everyone is different, but just in case, dont worry if it takes a while! Good luck

The prep is worse than the procedure

Well done you

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/01/2024 18:01

This is the first time I’ve had moviprep, I can’t remember what I had to have for the others that I’ve had (I have them routinely). This is surprisingly palatable but I’m nearly an hour since the first glass now and am pretty sure things happened far faster with the other stuff.

The other difference is that I have to have the procedure without sedation as DH is away with work and I have nobody else to collect me afterwards. Not looking forward to that tbh.

OP posts:
WinterExclusive · 30/01/2024 18:04

No sedation is quite hard core - see how it goes? Maybe if the worst comes to the worst, you could take sedation and get a cab home? Or is it the 'needing someone there afterwards' but (can't remember from mine - I was totally hopped up for both of them 😬

I think I remember mine taking a long time to get going and then when it did, I realised I was barefoot and stuck in the loo for ages with cold cold feet 😒

Hope it goes well

Sometimes it can take a couple hrs after first load

U have another moviprep dose 4 later yea ?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/01/2024 18:54

@WinterExclusive it’s the needing an adult to be with me afterwards if I have sedation that’s the issue (they specifically said that taxi drivers don’t count!). I think gas and air will be on offer and I gave birth to 2 children with just that so I’m putting on a brave face and keeping everything crossed that I can cope.

@worldwidetravel2017 the next (and final) dose is at 5am - 12 hours after the first one. I think I had picolax for the previous ones and it was really different to the prep this time.

MassiveOvaryaction · 30/01/2024 19:18

When I had my last one I was offered sedation, gas and air or nothing. I took the sedation and had to stay for around a couple of hours afterwards and had to be collected from the ward, but another lady who had only gas and air was allowed to leave by herself as soon as she'd farted BlushGrin
I had plenvu last time which took a lot longer to get going than previous ones.

Hope all goes well tomorrow Flowers

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/01/2024 19:26

Yes @worldwidetravel2017 , I’ve done all the dietary changes exactly as per the instructions and drunk large amounts of clear fluids today. I’ve double and triple checked what’s allowed as it’s quite different to last time

still no action, just a bit more gurgling

@MassiveOvaryaction hopefully I’ll be free to go once I’ve farted too (assuming it goes ahead in the first place. I’m not convinced it will at this rate)

🎉🎉🎉 we’re off………

OP posts:
Hellenbach · 30/01/2024 20:03

I had Plenvu, it wasn't awful and worked, nothing dramatic.
I also had gas and air as I needed to drive myself home.
It was fine, quite trippy actually, watching on the screen.
Felt okay afterwards. Staff were lovely and said I could go after about half an hour.
Good luck.

Jayinthetub · 30/01/2024 20:42

I had moviprep and can confirm it definitely works once it gets going!! I also only had gas & air and it was fine. Uncomfortable going round corners but not unbearable. Definitely nowhere near giving birth level of pain. You'll be fine Flowers

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/01/2024 21:18

Thanks all for your solidarity and reassurances.

The way things are going I should be fine to go ahead in the morning!

Let us know how u get on

Nogodsnomasters · 31/01/2024 11:29

Hope it went okay op

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/01/2024 15:01

Hope your ok

Were there polyps ?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 31/01/2024 15:16

All done. Just a couple of polyps which they have removed and will be sent to be tested. I managed without any sedation or gas and air, it was a bit uncomfortable at times thanks to my very twisty bowel but tolerable.

They said mine was the best bowel prep they’d had all morning 😇
